One difference worth knowing. Most of the image tools here never send your file anywhere. This one has to — rebuilding what sat under a mark needs a model that cannot run in a browser. Your image goes to a processing provider, is used for that one job, and is not stored by us afterwards. If you would rather nothing left your device, the cropper and the other browser tools are unaffected.
What it handles well, and what it doesn’t
How good the result is depends almost entirely on how much of the picture the mark covers. Roughly, best to worst:

Frequently asked questions
Which images am I allowed to do this to?
Ones you own or hold a licence to edit — your own photos, a stock image you have bought, or a comp you are licensed to work on. A watermark on someone else's work is the credit line they attached to it, and taking it off does not transfer any right to use the image.
How do I mark the watermark?
Paint over it with the brush. If it sits in a corner as a neat block, the numeric rectangle underneath is quicker and more exact than dragging.
Does it work on a watermark across the whole image?
Less well than on a corner mark. A tiled or full-width watermark overlaps most of the picture, so removing it means reconstructing most of the picture — the result tends to look soft where the mark used to be.
What about text burned into a photo?
Same job, same tool. Captions, date stamps and logos all come off the same way, and a date stamp on a plain background is about the easiest case there is.
Is my image uploaded?
Yes. Removing a mark and rebuilding what was under it needs a model that cannot run in a browser, so the image goes to a processing provider for that one job and is not stored afterwards.
Will the rest of the image change?
Only where you marked. Everything outside the marked area comes back untouched, and the result keeps the dimensions you sent.
