Your photo goes to a processing provider, is used for that one job, and is not stored by us afterwards — no copy, and no record of the image. What fal keeps is covered by their own privacy policy. If you would rather nothing left your device, the resizer and the other browser tools are unaffected.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of damage can it fix?
Scratches, creases, dust, fading and general age-related softness. It's tuned to preserve the original detail rather than reinterpret the scene, so it repairs rather than repaints.
Will it colourise as well?
Sometimes, as a side effect. If colour is what you're after, the photo colorizer is the tool built for it.
What about a badly torn photo?
Small tears usually fill in convincingly. A large missing area is invention rather than restoration — the model will produce something plausible, but it isn't recovering what was there.
Is my photo uploaded?
Yes. Restoration needs a model that cannot run in a browser, so the photo goes to a processing provider for that one job and is not stored by us afterwards. What the provider keeps is covered by their own privacy policy.
Should I scan at high resolution first?
Yes, within reason. A better scan gives the model more to work with, though very large files are scaled down before processing to keep the job quick.
