Frequently asked questions
How is this different from a quality slider?
A slider makes you do the search: pick 70%, download, check the size, try 55%, download again. Here you state the constraint you actually have, such as under 2MB, and the tool searches the quality range for the best result that fits.
What if my target is too small?
It tells you, and shows the smallest size this image can reach. That is more useful than silently handing you a file still over your limit, which you would only discover when the upload was rejected.
JPG or WebP?
WebP generally reaches the same file size at noticeably better quality. Pick JPG only if whatever you are uploading to will not accept WebP.
Why isn't PNG an option?
PNG is lossless, so there is no quality to trade away and no way to hit an arbitrary size target. To shrink a PNG a lot, convert it to WebP or JPG.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The compression runs in your browser on your own device, which is also why there is no daily limit.
