What the model does
MiniMax is the lab behind the Hailuo video models, which have been quietly good for a while without ever being the loudest thing in the field. H3 Max sits at the top of its H3 line and arrived on 26 August 2026.
The specification is deliberately narrow, and the parameters below come off the endpoint's own page:
- Resolutions: 480p and 768p. Nothing higher.
- Duration: 5 to 15 seconds, default 5.
- Aspect ratios: six, including 21:9, 16:9, 9:16 and 1:1.
Capping at 768p is a real decision rather than an oversight. For vertical short-form, 768p is close enough to what a phone displays that the difference is hard to see, and the compute saved goes into motion quality instead of pixels nobody looks at.

H3 Max sits in the middle and that is the honest description of it. Wan 3.0 costs the same at 480p and goes to 1080p and 30 seconds, so if you need either of those, take Wan. If you want a steady 768p workhorse and do not care about 1080p, this is a fine default.
What it will not do
No 1080p. If anything you make ends up on a desktop screen or a TV, look elsewhere.
No clips under five seconds, so it is a poor fit for very short cuts where you would otherwise pay for two or three seconds.
