The Gap: Editing Something Real vs Inventing It
Photoroom needs your mug. It will isolate it beautifully and stage it on marble convincingly, but the subject has to exist and you have to have photographed it — everything the AI does happens around something real. For e-commerce that is the correct design, because a listing has to show the actual product and a generated approximation of it sits somewhere between useless and fraudulent. Keep Photoroom if you own a camera and a product. The cutout is the best in its category, batch processing is the reason marketplace sellers stay, and $0.02 an image through the API makes high-volume background removal a solved problem — none of which Leaxor competes with, because it has no remover at all. Choose Leaxor when there is no photograph to edit: the thumbnail that needs a scene nobody shot, the concept image, the frame with words in it.
