Canva is a design tool that learned video. Its AI video feature, Create a Video Clip, runs on Google's Veo 3 and makes one 16:9 clip of up to eight seconds, with sound, on the paid plans. What Changed Since May
This page first went up in May, when it described Canva's AI video as short stock-style clips and Leaxor as a tool that only turned topics into finished Shorts. Both moved. What Canva Video Actually Does
Canva's video tools have grown a lot. Create a Video Clip, powered by Google's Veo 3, turns a prompt into a 16:9 clip of up to eight seconds with synchronised audio, one clip per prompt. For a faceless YouTube channel, Canva video has a recognisable problem: it looks like a Canva video. The fonts, the transitions and the template layouts are shared by millions of accounts, and viewers who watch a lot of Shorts notice. That's harder to overcome than it sounds when growth depends on someone choosing to subscribe.
What Each One Actually Replaces
Canva replaces a video editor for people who already have the ideas, the footage and the brand assets. It makes editing faster. It also makes sense if you already have your own material, screen recordings, photos or footage, and want an editor that's friendlier than Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. The drag-and-drop timeline removes most of the technical barrier while keeping full creative control.
