How do I write a script for a YouTube Short?

Three parts: a hook in the first three seconds, the payload, and a resolution. Everything else is padding.

Budget roughly 2.5 words per second of runtime. A 30-second Short is about 75 words — far less than people expect, which is why most first drafts are twice as long as they need to be.

The hook has to state the specific thing, not promise it. "Most faceless channels fail for one boring reason" works; "Today we're going to talk about faceless channels" does not, because it spends the only three seconds you're guaranteed.

The most common structural mistake is back-loading. Written prose builds to a conclusion; a Short has to open with it and spend the remaining time justifying it. If your best line is at the end, move it to the start and rewrite around it.
