Short answer: Nano Banana Pro costs $0.134 per image on Google's Gemini API at 1K or 2K, and $0.24 at 4K. The Batch API halves both. In the Gemini app it comes bundled with a Google AI plan from $4.99 to $199.99 a month, and third-party apps charge their own per-image price, from $0.15 on fal to $0.20 on Leaxor. Every price here was read from Google's own pages on 25 October 2026.
Quick flag: Leaxor is mine and it sells Nano Banana Pro, at a higher per-image price than Google's own API. I'll show you exactly when that's worth it and when it isn't.
Nano Banana Pro is Google's top image model, formally Gemini 3 Pro Image. If you landed here expecting a gadget: it isn't one. There's no box to buy, only images to pay for, and the price depends on which door you walk through. If you want to know what the model is actually good at first, what Nano Banana Pro is covers that.
Nano Banana Pro price per image
| Route | 1K or 2K image | 4K image |
|---|---|---|
| Gemini API, standard | $0.134 | $0.24 |
| Gemini API, Batch | $0.067 | $0.12 |
| fal | $0.15 | $0.30 |
| Leaxor (renders at 1K) | $0.20 | – |
Google's figures are from its Gemini API pricing page, last updated 22 October 2026. The Batch API is the same model run on a slower queue for half the price, which is worth it for anything you don't need back in seconds: a catalogue, a backlog of thumbnails, an overnight run.
Editing costs a little extra on top. Every reference image you send in is input, at about $0.0011 each. That's small enough to ignore unless you're sending dozens per image.
Nano Banana Pro cost per token
Under the per-image prices, the API bills tokens. Output images cost $120 per million tokens, and input text or images cost $2 per million. A 1K or 2K image works out to about 1,120 output tokens, and a 4K image to about 2,000. That's why 1K and 2K cost the same: they use the same number of tokens.
The model also bills its thinking as text output, at $12 per million tokens. It's small next to the image itself, and it grows with the length of your instructions, which is the price of the thing the model is best at: following a long brief.
How much Nano Banana Pro costs per month in the Gemini app
| Plan | Price | Usage limits |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Standard limits. Nano Banana Pro is limited. |
| Google AI Plus | from $4.99/mo | 2× the standard limits |
| Google AI Pro | $19.99/mo | 4× the standard limits |
| Google AI Ultra | $99.99 or $199.99/mo | 5× or 20× AI Pro's limits |
Prices are from Google's subscriptions page and the limits from its Gemini Apps limits page. Two things are worth knowing before you subscribe for images.
First, a plan buys higher limits, not a number of images. Google describes the limits relative to each other (AI Pro is four times the standard limit) and says they can change without notice. So there's no honest "cost per image" for a plan, only a flat fee that's cheap if you hit the limit often and expensive if you don't.
Second, the plans bundle a lot else: storage, video generation, the Pro chat model. If images are all you want, you're paying for the rest too.
Is Nano Banana Pro free?
Not usefully. The Gemini app's free plan runs on standard limits with limited Nano Banana Pro access, and Google warns that free users can lose access to compute-heavy features when demand is high. The API has no free tier for this model at all: the pricing page lists "Not available" for free use, so billing has to be on before your first image. That also answers the Google AI Studio question, since AI Studio runs on the same API.
What real jobs cost on each route
At 1K or 2K, rendered once with no rerolls:
| Job | Images | API | API Batch | fal | Leaxor |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A week of thumbnails | 10 | $1.34 | $0.67 | $1.50 | $2.00 |
| A month of social posts | 100 | $13.40 | $6.70 | $15.00 | $20.00 |
| A product catalogue | 1,000 | $134.00 | $67.00 | $150.00 | $200.00 |
On price alone, Google's Batch API wins every row, and Leaxor loses every row. If you're a developer, you have billing set up, and you're making a thousand images, use the Batch API directly. I'd tell you that whether or not I sold the alternative.
When paying more per image is worth it
The direct API is the cheapest route only if you count nothing but the image. It needs a Google Cloud billing account, an API key and some code. It runs one model, so comparing it against anything else means a second setup. And it's per-token billing you have to read carefully.
A third-party app is worth the markup when those costs are real to you: you're not a developer, you want to try the same prompt on Nano Banana Pro and a cheaper model side by side, or you'd rather buy credits than open a cloud account. On Leaxor it's 2 credits next to 46 other image models, credits cost $0.10 from 50 at a time, and they never expire. No subscription required. That's the trade: more per image, much less setup.
Nano Banana Pro vs Nano Banana 2 on price
The obvious way to spend less is the smaller model. Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image) costs $0.067 at 1K, $0.101 at 2K and $0.151 at 4K on the API, and $0.10 on Leaxor. At 1K that's half Nano Banana Pro's price. Whether the quality gap is worth the difference depends on the job, and Nano Banana 2 vs Nano Banana Pro goes through where it shows.
The original Nano Banana (Gemini 2.5 Flash Image) is cheaper still at $0.039, but Google lists it as deprecated, with a shutdown date of 2 October 2026, so it's not a route to plan around.
How to spend less on Nano Banana Pro
- Use Batch for anything that can wait. Same model, half the price.
- Stay at 2K unless you'll print it. 1K and 2K cost the same; 4K costs 79% more.
- Draft on a cheaper model. Find the composition on Nano Banana 2 or Flux, then render the keeper on Pro. Exploring at Pro prices is where budgets go.
- Save Pro for words. Its advantage is text inside the image and following a long brief. For a plain photo, a cheaper model is usually enough. The thumbnail generator comparison shows where the cheaper models already spell correctly.
Prices outside the US
The Gemini API has one price list, in US dollars. Google AI plan prices are set per country and shown in local currency, so the $19.99 above won't be your price everywhere. Check the plans page while signed in from your own country before you subscribe.
If you'd rather not deal with any of it, the Nano Banana Pro image generator page has the model with its price on it, and the AI image generator has the rest of the shelf next to it.
